This course considers the nature of entrepreneurship and the distinctive challenges of starting and managing a small business. Students will study the environment in which entrepreneurship flourishes from the perspectives of the entrepreneur and the overall economic system, including the following topics: idea generation, feasibility and development, financial planning, marketing, operations, management and human resources. As a key component of the course, students will transform an entrepreneurial idea or new business opportunity into a formal business plan. The course concludes with an examination of the process of implementation of the business plan and management of a new business venture.
