ENGL 1010W-1 is planned as an in-person class on the CMU
campus, with no Zoom option. The class will not be recorded. Assignments will
be submitted in hard copy, in person, unless otherwise arranged.
W Course Information: This course carries a “W” designation because it
offers special attention to the practice of effective academic writing. The
professor will be willing to meet and discuss your writing at any point in the semester.This course will examine narrative,
focusing on the genres of the novel and the short story, drawing upon a broad
range of historical and contemporary literature from around the world, with an
emphasis on the contemporary era. It will examine the complex relationship
between form and content, reflecting on how words make meaning. This course
fulfills the academic writing requirement.
