The problem has now been resolved, and Moodle is successfully sending email again.
Unfortunately, Moodle will not re-send the email which would normally have been sent for the last week or so (the problem appears to have started sometime around last Wednesday). Thus, email notifications you were expecting from last week will not be sent.
